The Story Behind Noises of the Night

Noises of the Night cover-rbg.png

Raised in the sunny Okanagan Valley, Alana had grown accustomed to the melodic sounds of crickets chirping and frogs croaking outside her bedroom window each night on her parent's rural property. It wasn't until she tossed and turned in her Toronto hotel room, the sounds of traffic outside keeping her awake that she realized, that the sounds outside the window each night were different dependent on where you were in Canada.

This notion sparked the idea for Noises of the Night, a bright and engaging children's picture book that teaches children about the noises outside their windows each night Canada wide. All while lulling them to sleep with the gentle rhythm induced by the story's rhyme scheme.

"I just received Alana Pidwerbeski’s book Noises of the Night. I have lived and travelled all over our beautiful Country, this is truly a Canadian Lullaby. Tranquil, heartfelt and wonderfully illustrated. I bought it for my 3 year old great nephew. I look forward to reading it to him. I hope it becomes a Canadian favourite. "
